1986 Foundation and Early Focus

Founded as The Cable Factory in St Albans, Hertfordshire, the company began its journey serving the telecoms market. This laid the foundation for what would become a leader in bespoke cable solutions.

2000 Strategic Leadership Begins

Steve Jack joined as Engineering Manager, bringing extensive experience from the aerospace sector. His appointment marked the beginning of a new era of strategic transformation and growth.

2004 New Ownership and Vision

Steve Jack acquired the business and rebranded it as Gem Cable Solutions Ltd. The company shifted its focus to high-cost-of-failure manufacturing, emphasizing quality, reliability, and innovative engineering.

2008 ISO 9001 Accreditation

2014 Relocation and Growth

To meet growing demand, the company opened a second facility at Mallow Park in Welwyn Garden City, strengthening its production capacity and customer support across two locations. The new site was specifically established to enhance Gem’s capabilities in manufacturing bespoke panels, cabinets, and box builds.

Managing Director

Steve Jack brings decades of aerospace and engineering expertise to his role as Managing Director of Gem Cable Solutions. His career began at British Aerospace and continued at Airbus, where he contributed to critical rocket launch operations. Since acquiring the company in 2004, Steve has led its transformation into a trusted provider of high-cost-of-failure cable assemblies, with a sharp focus on quality, innovation, and operational excellence.

Sinead Jack

Director

Sinead Jack plays a strategic leadership role at Gem Cable Solutions, driving forward initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. With a background in law, she brings a detail-oriented and solutions-driven mindset to the business. Sinead also leads the company’s corporate social responsibility programmes, reinforcing Gem’s values through environmental initiatives, community sponsorships, and charitable partnerships.

Nichola Traish

Head of HR

Nichola Traish oversees all HR strategy and operations at Gem Cable Solutions, aligning people, processes, and performance to support the company’s long-term objectives. With a background in aerospace HR, she ensures compliance with industry standards such as AS9100 and leads initiatives to foster an inclusive, high-performing culture. Sam Zaidan

Head of Quality

Sam Zaidan is a Chartered Quality Professional (CQP FCQI) with extensive experience in electronics and quality engineering. With many years of experience as a Senior Sales Engineer, Gary brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role as Manufacturing Administrator.
