Read MoreSustainability and conservation are incredibly important today – and not just the work of big companies on a global scale. Everyone can do their bit when it comes to looking after our natural world. At GEM Cable we wanted to show how much we care about conservation, as well as the commitment we’ve made to our local area. That’s why we have supported a local tree sponsoring scheme at nearby Highfield Park.
It is a way for anyone to make a contribution to the upkeep and development of Highfield Park on an annual basis. The scheme has been designed to attract support from the local community, with the aim of getting every tree on the park’s Tree Trail sponsored. Green spaces like Highfield Park are vital to our local communities, both for the havens they provide for wildlife and also the positive impact that these areas can have on humans and our mental wellbeing. At GEM Cable we have always played an active role in the local community so it felt like a logical next step to make a contribution to a space that has so much to offer everyone who lives here.
GEM Cable is supporting the tree sponsoring scheme at Highfield Park. Our contribution has been recognised by the Highfield Park Trust in terms of being part of the scheme, something that we wanted to do as GEM Cable is a local business and we regularly use the park. However, that’s not where our input ends when it comes to Highfield Park and the tree sponsoring scheme, as we wanted to do more to help conserve and protect this incredible part of the natural local landscape. As a result, we have also been involved in helping the Highfield Park Trust to generate ideas to raise much-needed financial support for its initiatives going forward. The Trust said “when putting together our plans, GEM Cable is always at the top of our list of businesses to invite to contribute, both as a local resident and also from a local business perspective.”
It’s been important to us at GEM Cable to be able to give back to the local community on many levels. The contribution we’ve been able to make to the Highfield Park Trust has been described as “welcome and constructive” and we’re looking forward to continuing to provide this kind of ongoing support as the Trust does its great work in the years to come. The tree sponsoring scheme is something that anyone can get involved with – and we’d highly recommend it, whether you are a local resident or a local business owner like us. It’s also possible to sponsor something other than a tree in the Highfield Park. For example, you can sponsor a play area – you’ll get a certificate to show the contribution you’ve made, as well as the satisfaction of knowing that you’re making a difference for current and future generations.
