Luka Is Leaving

We are delighted to wish Luka all the best as he leaves Gem Cable Solutions Ltd at the end of this month. He will first enjoy some well-deserved student travel time before beginning his studies at Imperial College London, a world-class university.

We first met Luka when he joined St Albans City Youth Team, whom we sponsored for 10years and then again where he now plays rugby at Old Verulamium Rugby Club, St Albans, whom we have sponsored for the past 3 seasons. This is one of the positives of our Corporate Social Responsibility policy.

Luka joined us after achieving outstanding A-level results in 2024. He decided to take a gap year to gain hands-on experience in industry before diving into university life. He understands that higher education, while invaluable, can’t fully replicate the practical, open-ended nature of  professional engineering experience.

Research shows that taking a year out in industry leads to better degree performance outcomes, as students gain invaluable experience, knowledge, and skills that will undoubtedly enrich their academic journey.

Luka’s decision to spend a year in industry with Gem Cable Solutions Ltd reflects a forward-thinking approach to his education. By immersing himself in the real-world challenges of engineering, he has gained insights and practical skills that will serve him well throughout his academic career and beyond.

Luka’s time with us has strengthened his problem-solving abilities in a hands-on environment. These experiences will provide him with a deeper understanding of the engineering field, helping him stand out when he starts university later this year.

As Luka transitions into his university studies, we are confident that the lessons he’s learned during his time at Gem Cable Solutions Ltd will not only enhance his degree but also shape his career for the long term.
